Recently, Disney held a preview in NY showcasing upcoming merchandise, from those that celebrate its classic films and newer successes (Frozen) to those that tie-in with its theme parks and upcoming films. Big Hero 6, the first film from Walt Disney Animation Studios after Frozen, is a highly-anticipated adaptation of a Marvel series, the first collaboration between the superhero company and Disney Animation. After the break, take a look at a selection of Big Hero 6 toys that will be available in the Fall!
Two toys from Bandai were shown, both featuring the character Baymax, a lovable robot belonging to the main character Hiro. Baymax (voiced by Scott Adsit in the film) teams up with Hiro to save the city of San Fransokyo, a fun hybrid between Tokyo and San Francisco. As the film begins, we see Baymax in his original white form, but later he sees the addition of red armor. He essentially goes from adorable to fierce. The first toy comes with both Baymax and Hiro and is called Big Hero 6 Deluxe Flying Baymax. As you maneuver it through the air, it emits flying sounds. It is priced at $39.99 and it is set for release on September 26th.
The next toy at the preview also spotlighted Baymax in his red armor, but this time it is just his fist. Called the Big Hero 6 Rocket Fist, you place your hand inside and are able to fire small rockets across the room, which will undoubtedly make it a favorite. It is priced at $19.99 and will bow at retail sometime in September:
Given that the film is still a few months away, there is likely a limit to how many of the toys that Disney can share due to the potential for spoilers. Still, the products they had on display give us a good idea about the interaction level that the toys will provide to consumers. As we approach the November release date for the film, you can expect for more toys to be revealed. From the preview, it clearly looks like there will be plenty of opportunity for fans to bring the film home and relive its moments. Stay tuned as we wait to hear more!
