“Life is like a hurricane, here in Duckburg.” When you think back to theme songs for classic animated series, there are a number of well-known hits. One of the greatest of them all, though, is the opening for DuckTales, which many of those who lived through the 80s and 90s could sing for you, word-for-word. You may just get to hear a new version of the song as we have word that Disney is now rebooting the series and new episodes are on the way!
Disney XD announced today that it has ordered a brand new series based on the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his nephews. The original series ran for 100 episodes from 1987 to 1990, and solidified itself as one of Disney’s greatest animated series ever. The property continues to have a large fanbase, which Disney is likely hoping to capitalize on. Given that it will be airing on Disney XD, millions of children from the current generation will have the opportunity to jump aboard as well.
“DuckTales’ has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults,” said Marc Buhaj, SVP, Programming and General Manager, Disney XD. “Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.”
The new series will reunite the main cast of Scrooge, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, and will bring back favorites as well, including Launchpad McQuack, Gyro Gearloose, Magica DeSpell, the Beagle Boys, Mrs. Beakley, Webbigail, and Duckworth. It is an exciting time for Ducktales fans.
The new DuckTales animated series is slated to debut on Disney XD sometime in 2017!
