To say that Frozen has proven to be a massive success would still be an understatement considering that the film is rapidly closing in on $1 billion in box office receipts worldwide, which would not only make it the first Disney Animation film to cross the milestone, but it would also make it the highest-grossing film from the studio ever, even when accounting for re-releases. One area where the film’s popularity can be gauged is on YouTube where countless covers of the hit song “Let It Go” have been appearing. Last week, one cover was added that may just blow them all away. Watch it after the break!
Artist Alex Boyé collaborated with the One Voice Children Choir for an amazing rendition of “Let It Go,” adding in elements from African tribal music. In addition to the incredible vocals (led by the young Lexi Walker who demonstrates a great vocal range for someone her age), the sets and polishing place this cover in a class of its own. Fans of the film will also be able to spot some references that recall characters from the film (see: the last shot).
There are a wealth of “Let It Go” covers to choose from, and given everyone’s different taste in music, you will likely have a favorite that differs from other fans’ choices. What we can say, with all certainty, is that the film and its music continue to grow in popularity, and that is a great sign for the animation industry.
