The Muppets have been known for their keen sense of humor and wit since Jim Henson created them. That is a large part of why they have endured, long after the original Muppet Show ended – audiences have formed connections with the memorable characters. After the success of the most recent film, The Muppets, which was released in 2011, Disney is currently finishing up follow-up Muppets Most Wanted. After the break, watch a hilarious new video that features fake reviews for the unreleased film.
Even in the years leading up to the last film, the Jim Henson Company was releasing creative and funny videos that went viral. Disney attempted to continue that in the marketing campaign for The Muppets, and is now extending that to the newest entry in the franchise. In the new video ad, several fake tweets have been culled together, that mix pop-culture humor with the endearing laughs we have come to expect from the cast of the Muppets.
The official synopsis for the film is below:
Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling our grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine – the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit – and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais. The film stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon.
Muppets Most Wanted, along with the new Monsters University short Party Central, debuts in theaters on March 21st!
